The modern Montrose story pivots on two crucial developments, which, together, elevated an already great estate into the rarified realms of the legendary. First, the massive investment by the Bouygues family (telecom magnates Martin and Olivier), who completed a seven-year renovation in 2013, essentially rebuilding the infrastructure from the ground up. Then, in 2012, the family brought in directors Jean-Bernard Delmas from Haut-Brion and Hervé Berland from Mouton-Rothschild, sending an unmistakable signal that Montrose intended to compete with Bordeaux's First Growth elite.
